High school basketball team lands FaceTime call with Tampa Bay Buccaneers after messaging wrong number

A high school basketball team in West Vancouver had a brief lesson in computer miscommunication after getting a FaceTime call from NFL superstar Jameis Winston, who was mistakenly connected with the wrong number.

The Christian Academy Vikes were playing against Vancouver Christian Academy in a high school basketball game in the UK on Monday evening, but their opponent’s assistant coach received a call from Jameis Winston, the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was Friday night, so they were on their way to watch the Bucs in action at the New York Giants stadium.

Winston was confused as to which number the team were wearing, and the team manager told him that was sixth. Winston immediately responded with a compliment.

It was the middle of the game and everyone went crazy (or was that Team Canaveral?), the team’s social media manager (@JeffPol) wrote on Twitter.

“I’ve been doing this so long I can use a FaceTime call to talk to someone about something as simple as what number their jerseys were in the middle of the game,” he wrote, “about 15 minutes after he finished talking to us.”
