Eight men arrested for fight at Irish cemetery as men shout insults at each other

Eight men have been arrested in relation to a fight at a cemetery on the outskirts of Limerick city during the past weekend. Police said the men were detained after fighting started at the funeral of a 22-year-old man. Video footage of the brawl showed mourners shouting insults at each other and ducking to avoid punches as others hurled stones at mourners standing nearby.

A spokesperson for Limerick Police said the arrests were connected to another incident at another funeral at nearby Salthill on Saturday night. Nine other men and a woman were arrested in connection with the second incident, police said. They have been released on bail.

The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and they are now at Limerick University mortuary. Any additional charges arising out of the police investigations will be dealt with in court.
